
Our children are the first generation in modern society to fear the future. For the first time, the future is not seen as a place of hope and something better. Too often, even adults can feel powerless in the face of today's complex global challenges. Despite the complexity, there is a way out. The mission of the Empathy-Based Society Initiative is to champion this path by:
We have normalized the violence against humans, animals, nature, and the planet and based our economic system on this. Violence is built on inequality of power and therefore needs a winner and a loser. Read more
We are born with brains hard-wired for empathy, but empathy needs to be developed and strengthened through learning and experiences.
Empathy is a trait that helps us learn from others, helps us walk in another’s shoes. It awakens in us parental care, and concern for the survival and thriving of our children. It also benefits us greatly. Empathic people have stronger and healthier immune system, report higher well-being and have happier relationships.
The opposite of empathy is violence. Read more
Our short and long-term goals are:
- raising awareness of the connection between empathy and violence, along with its impact on people, animals, nature, and the planet, and providing practical guidance on incorporating empathic and non-violent practices into our daily routines,
- advocating for
a. the purposeful development of empathy and empathic practices in individuals and communities,
b. non-violent practices towards animals (plant-based food, cruelty-free products, empty cages),
c. fostering connections with nature and the planet by adopting regenerative practices and sustainable living,
- connecting and collaborating with like-minded individuals, businesses, organizations, and communities to support and amplify each other’s work and message,
- driving systemic and structural changes to address direct and structural violence against individuals, animals, and the environment through the establishment of think tanks.
